Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Melt the butter in a saucepan on the stovetop or a microwaveable safe dish in the microwave. Place the pecan halves in a large bowl and spread out as much as possible.

Pour half the butter over the pecan halves and stir well to coat the pecans. Spread out again and pour the balance of the butter over and stir again.

Spread the pecans out again and add half the salt and stir well. Add the balance of the salt and stir it again.

Pour the pecan, salt, butter mixture onto the baking sheet. Spread out as evenly as possible, preferably in a single layer.

Place the pan into the oven and bake for 10 minutes, then stir gently, turning the pecans as you stir. You can taste test one at this point.

If the pecans are not toasted to your liking cook another 10 minutes, watching carefully to make sure they do not over brown.

Do another taste test and if necessary give them another 5 minutes.
