But before we get to the recipe, I feel like I need to provide an answer to the #1 question I always get whenever the subject of Pico De Gallo comes up:
What Is The Difference Between Salsa And Authentic Pico De Gallo?
Well to begin with salsa translated means “sauce”. Pico De Gallo translated means “rooster peck” or “peck of rooster”
Doesn’t tell us much does it?
Basically, salsa, or “sauce”, is more liquid and pico de gallo tends to be more chunky! Also, some salsas are cooked while pico de gallo is always left raw!
That’s about as definitive as I can get.
Whatever the difference, this Easy Pico de Gallo Recipe takes the dish to a high level. It’s bright, it’s fresh, and it’s full of flavor.
Did I mention that it’s easy too?

Don’t worry too much about it “being perfect”. Everyone just does it to preference. Some have a lot of chilies, some don’t. Some have a ton of lime or a lot of onions.
I like mine with a little chili, a lot of onion & lime. Cilantro is a plus but sometimes I don’t have any on hand.
