How To Make Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix

Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix

I never buy Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix. I make it myself. I’ve had a problem with buying ready-made spice mixes for some time now.

This spice mix is no exception!

I mean it makes no sense to buy something and pay extra for it when I’ve got everything I need to make it myself! That goes double for pumpkin pie spice.

There are just so few ingredients!

Pumpkin pie spice is not my first homemade spice mix. I got started making my own mixes with Cajun Spice.

Have you ever heard “when it’s salty enough, it’s seasoned just right”? Not true, not true! My Cajun spice with no salt is much, much better!

What Is Pumpkin Pie Spice Mix?

As anybody might guess pumpkin spice is a blend of spices that have traditionally flavored pumpkin pie.

However, it now goes much further than pumpkin pie! In the fall of the year, it’s in everything and I do mean everything! Have you ever heard of pumpkin spice dog treats? Yep, dog treats!

If there’s a dish of almost any kind that’s popular in the fall somebody has probably tried it with pumpkin spice!

The spice mix itself is mostly ground cinnamon. Lots of cinnamon. Much smaller amounts of ground ginger, nutmeg, and cloves complete the blend.

Well, some recipes also call for a bit of allspice or mace. But mostly it’s just four ingredients.

It goes together really easy too. Just throw the ingredients together and blend ’em up. Takes less than 10 minutes start to finish. Definitely convenient.

Make yourself up a batch and use it on all your fall recipes.

Don’t forget the dog!!!
